We often get asked, “How do you compete with all the massage franchises popping up everywhere?” The truth is—we don’t. And more importantly, we don’t want to. And back when I started my practice in 2004, massage franchises weren’t even a thing. Neither was Groupon!

At Michigan Massage and Wellness, we’re not here to lure you in with steeply discounted introductory massages or membership deals that seem too good to be true. Because let’s be honest—when you book a “60-minute massage” at a chain location, you’re lucky if you get 50 minutes on the table. Why? Because consultation time, dressing, and undressing are all included in that hour. And with back-to-back appointments scheduled every hour on the hour, most therapists at those places are overworked, often running behind, and struggling to give each client the attention they deserve.

How We’re Different From Franchises

When you book a 60-minute session with us, you get a full 60 minutes on the table. If your appointment is at 2 p.m., you’re on that table at 2 p.m.—not sitting in the lobby filling out paperwork or rushed through a quick consultation. We build buffer times into our schedule so we can properly assess your needs before and after your session, ensuring you never feel hurried out the door. Now with that being said, if your appointment is at 2 p.m., don’t be walking in the door at 2 p.m. on the dot because then your session may be cut a little short. Give yourself time to arrive, plan for any disruptions, and that way you can relax for a few minutes before your session begins.

Would we love to offer nap sessions after your massage? Absolutely. But the reality is, we only make money when our therapists are working on clients, and we need to make sure they’re fully booked so they can continue providing the best care possible, so while we never want to rush you out of your session and we do have a gap between clients to allow for checking out, room turnover and speaking with you after your service, we do have others that are counting on us for the same great experience.

We Build Relationships—Not Memberships

In over 20 years of business, we’ve never offered a membership package. We’ve never run a Groupon deal. And yet, we have clients who have been with us since the beginning. We’ve had people who have done the Groupon hopping and tried all of the franchises in the area and end up coming back to us.

Why? Because we build real relationships.

We don’t need gimmicks to keep you coming back. Our clients trust us because we listen, we care, and we get results.
