Happy Holidays! Or are you a Grinch because you hate buying gifts?
It’s that time of year again, where you mercilessly bang your head against a wall trying to think of the perfect gift for that oh so special someone in your life, and you know that the days of robes and new pajamas are far behind you.
Instead of trying to shop til you drop to find the best gift ever, why not give the gift of an experience? One they can use on their own time, with or without you? If you know me, you know that my vacations are one of my most coveted things, and I always value experiences over things. So, I’ve put together a handy little guide to some of my personal favorites in the Troy and Metro Detroit area for you!

A membership to the Detroit Zoo. The Detroit Zoo is open nearly year round, so you can see the lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Not to mention polar bears, giraffes, primates, and my least favorite, the butterfly exhibit. (What can I say? I’m that weirdo that freaks out when things fly at me, even a tiny little butterfly)
Date night at Imperial. If you know me, you know my love for tacos is strong, and Imperial does it right. Don’t skip the corn, or the Bakersfield Sonoran hot dog. If tacos aren’t your thing, visit their sister restaurant, Public House for their smoked brisket hash for brunch, or next door to Antihero for a fresh take on Asian fare. I have to say, the Working Class Outlaw group is NEVER going to let you down.

Game night at Ready Player One. Take your favorite person down to Detroit for a fun night of arcades, good eats, and when you’re done, weather permitting, maybe to the ice rink at Campus Martius or zoom around the city on scooters and explore all that our revitalized city has to offer (because it’s a lot!)

Take a step back in time at Greenfield Village. Between the IMAX screen, the Rouge Factory tour and so many other options, you can ensure a fun filled day that’s both entertaining and educational.

A gift certificate to Michigan Massage and Wellness. It would be remiss of me to not include a shameless plug for a visit to our practice. Whether it’s stretching that they need, targeted pain relief or a blissful escape from life, we’ve got you covered.
Now, go forth and plan some amazing times that they’ll remember forever!
In good hands,
Rebecca Tamm, LMT
