Stretch Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Stretch Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

Question….how often do you work out? One day a week? 2? 5?

Now another question….how often do you stretch?

I’m guessing not nearly as much, am I right?

So many times, we emphasize getting an intense workout in and leaving it all on the floor. From a grueling Crossfit WOD to setting a personal best for a run, or on the other end of the spectrum, some people don’t incorporate enough movement into their day. So stretching is totally out of the question.

I could go on and on, and on some more about the types of stretching, why it’s important, how to do it, etc. But instead, I’m going to talk about a few of the stretching methods and modalities that we offer at Michigan Massage and Wellness.

Fascial Stretching

This gentle yet effective assisted stretch session improves range of motion and flexibility while reducing pain and improving posture. Think about when you are standing in your basement staring up at that corner window that has a bunch of cobwebs up there because you rarely ever go there to clean. Now think about how tight your hips feel when you stand up after several hours of sitting. Those tight, achy joints need to be cleaned out, and fascial stretching does by incorporating traction and gentle movements. Say goodbye to static stretching and enjoy a deeply relaxing stretch session while you lay on the table and let us do the work.

Yoga Tune Up

If you’ve taken any of our classes here, you know we do things a little differently. No sun salutations or lengthy pose holds here. More emphasis is put on corrective exercise, functional movement and self-massage, and myofascial release using Yoga Tune Up® therapy balls.

Lokte Method

plantar fasciitis, lokte method, massage and stretching

This unique approach to connective tissue release is highly effective and quick to deliver results! I have helped alleviate six months of shoulder pain in a 15-minute treatment and assisted clients with their plantar fasciitis pain. This is a must-try for anyone suffering from limited range of motion, mobility issues, shoulder impingements, migraines, whiplash, sciatic pain, and more.

And don’t think that you have to come in for an appointment for relief. There are tons of self-care options for you to do at home. Take a yoga or pilates class, start incorporating Yoga Tune Up balls into your daily routine, or check out our online program, Stretch Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself.

Stretching doesn’t have to be anything super involved or time-consuming. Still, you should be doing SOMETHING with it daily, especially if you are a cubicle dweller or in any profession that doesn’t involve much movement, or you want to relieve some of your aches and pains in between your regular massage sessions.
